Obituary for Arthur "Junior or Cowboy" Duncan Jr.

Print
Arthur Duncan Jr., son of the late Arthur Duncan, Sr. and Beulah Palmer Duncan, was born April 24, 1928 in Painter, Virginia. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Boston, Virginia.

Arthur was educated in the Accomack County Public Schools. He was affectionately known as “Cowboy." He loved to wear his cowboy hat and boots.

His life's work was dedicated to farm labor and odd jobs for family and friends. He loved watching television, especially Westerns. Arthur enjoyed the outdoors, working in garden, as well as hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed hunting with his older brother, Obediah and close friend, Oteal.

He also enjoyed holiday and Sunday dinners with his family at the homes of his sisters, Margaret and Daisey.

After a lengthy illness, Arthur was called to eternal rest on October 18 2018, at Shore Health & Rehab Center in Parksley, Virginia.

Left to mourn is his sister, Margaret Duncan Matthews and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Arthur was preceded in death by his siblings, Obediah Parker, Catherine Parker Bryant, John Parker, Emma Duncan Gunter, and Daisey Duncan Clifford.
