Obituary for Acey Mitchell Mapp

Acey Mitchell Mapp, Sr. was born on September 20, 1966 in Accomack County, Virginia to late Alfred Mapp, Sr. and Betty Mapp. He departed this life at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on February 17, 2023.

Acey received his education in Accomack County Public Schools. He was employed at Perdue Farms for fifteen years until his health began to fail.

At an early age, he gave his life to Christ. Acey worshipped at Grace Independent Methodist Church in Wachapreague, Virginia with his family.

In his leisure, Acey enjoyed watching Family Feud and football, especially his favorite team the Washington Redskins. He had a jovial spirit and loved teasing and picking on people. Spending time with his family and friends brought him great joy.

In addition to his parents, Acey was preceded in death by his special friend, Marquette Wescott.

Acey leaves to cherish fond memories his stepmother, Carolyn Ann Mapp of Melfa, VA; wife, Keisha Mapp of Painter, VA; eight children, Sharon (Danielle) Banks of Salisbury, MD, Sierro Banks Parksley, VA, Deonte (Courtney) Hope of Harrisburg, VA, Shatoria Hope of Salisbury, MD, Shyajah Mapp, Acey (Mariah) Mapp, Jr., both of Modest Town, VA, Shanazas Bynum, and Tyler Bynum, both of Melfa, VA; six sisters, Shi (Kenny) Mapp of Salisbury, MD, Malesia (Jermaine) Mapp of Melfa, VA, Alfreda Mapp of Salisbury, MD, Triphinia Mapp of Melfa, VA, Tyekeva Fitchett of Exmore, VA, and Yvonne (Wayne) Stewart of Philadelphia, PA; three brothers, Danny (Patricia) Savage of Painter, VA, Alfred (Linda) Mapp, Jr. of Wachapreague, VA, and Brian Fitchett of Hebron, MD; one aunt, Juanita (Willis) Carswell of Paterson, NJ; fourteen grandchildren; three stepchildren; one stepsister, Vera Turlington of Melfa, VA; stepbrother, Fred Turlington of Melfa, VA; special friend of the family, Elizabeth Crosland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
