Obituary for Adolph Watson

Adolph Watson, son of the late Cleveland and Alice Watson, was born on September 19, 1937 in Atlantic, Virginia. He left this life for his eternal heavenly home on Friday, October 7, 2022.

Adolph accepted Christ as his personal savior at a very early age and joined St. Joseph’s Holiness Church in Atlantic, Virginia. His love and commitment to Christ remained steadfast until his death.

After graduating from Mary Nottingham Smith High School, Adolph relocated to Pleasantville, New Jersey, where he was successful in holding several jobs. He retired from Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey after over twenty years of service.

Adolph united in holy matrimony to Madlyn Taylor and the two of them were blessed to have celebrated thirty-five beautiful years of marriage.

Adolph was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved clothes and would always be “well dressed.” He enjoyed the “finer” things of life and loved watching baseball and football - especially his favorite teams - the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles. Adolph will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his wife and family, his love for Christ, and his good-natured attitude.

Adolph was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Watson, Sr. Those left to cherish the many fond memories are his wife, Madlyn; sons, Wardell DuPont of Laurel, DE, and Dwight Taylor of Willingboro, NJ; daughter, Argatheria (Luis) Vazquez of Orlando, FL; grandsons, Daylon Carey, Luis “Bo” Vazquez, and Anthony “Trae” Taylor; granddaughter, Lashay Vazquez; brothers, James Watson of Trenton, NJ, Ronald Watson of Pocomoke, MD, and Bobby (Darlene) Watson of Wattsville, VA; brothers-in-law, Marshall Cropper of Accomac, VA, Sherman Cropper, Pervone (Zelda) Cropper, both of Newark, DE, and Timothy Cropper of Washington, DC; nieces, Alice Faulk, Faultine (Gary) Rodgers, Sheila McKoy, Arvonia (Angelo) Heath, and Airee Watson; nephews, David (Laverne) Watson and Ronald Watson, Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lovingly submitted,
The Family
