Obituary for Albert Lee "Al" Cropper

Albert Lee Cropper, son of the late Rosetta Cropper and raised by the late Lillie and William Cropper, was born in Modestown, Virginia on January 10, 1940. He earned his wings on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Shore Health and Rehab Center after a lengthy illness. Albert was a member of First Baptist Church of Mappsville, Virginia.

Albert Lee affectionally known to many as “Al” or “Al Green,” was educated in the Accomack county public schools. He was a hardworking man, he would do any odd job whether he knew what he was doing or not. Even though he worked odd jobs, he also worked at Perdue Farms. On June 26, 1960, “Al” married Alice Marie Kellam; he always said “He got her just by buying her french fries.” This union was blessed with six children.

“Al’s” favorites were his grandkids, especially Alex, Kevin, Leon, Sedric, and Euchithea Cropper. He also loved watching his favorite baseball team, the Orioles.

In addition to his parents, “Al” was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Marie Cropper; granddaughter, Euchithea; great grandson, KaMauri Cuffee; and brother, Russell Cropper.

“AL” leaves to cherish his memories: six children, Barbara Satchell of Nelsonia, VA, Calvin (Erledena) Cropper of Prince George County, VA, Lillie Sample of Nelsonia, VA, Denise Roberts of Wilmington, DE, Cordoria (Barry) Cropper, and Alesia Crippen, both of Greenbush, VA; fifteen grandchildren, whom he helped raise, Alex (Katiya) Cropper of Dover, DE, Calvin (Kerry) Cropper, Jr. of Chantilly, VA, Kevin (Latanya) Cropper of Withams, VA, Kentoya Sample of Mappsville, VA, Sedric Dennis of New Church, VA, Keyone (Zyra) Cropper of Miami, FL, Tymeka Cropper of Wilmington, DE, Latia Cropper of Accomac, VA, LaMesha Cropper, LaKesha Cropper, both of Richmond, VA, LaKenya Crippen, LaKea Crippen, both of Chesapeake, VA, Leon Crippen of Greenbush, VA, and Terrance O’Bryan of Pocomoke, MD; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
