Aline Manuel was born on February 28, 1933 in Franktown, Virginia. She was the daughter of Louise Holmes and Edward Savage. Aline was raised by her maternal grandparents James and Mildred Holmes.
Aline was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Franktown, Virginia. She served on the usher board for over 20 years.
Aline was affectionately known as “Mama” and “Ms. Aline” to all of her family and friends. At an early age, she met and married the love of her life, Henry Manuel and their union lasted 43 years. This union was blessed with 7 children. Aline had a loving and kind spirit. Everybody she met loved her and wanted to be around her. Her house was a place that you could always come to and make yourself at home.
Aline began her career at Holly Farms, now Tyson Foods, for 28 years until she retired. She was known for being a class act, a sharp dresser, and loving to her family and friends. Aline truly enjoyed having family functions and she always wanted everybody to be happy. Her home was a safe haven for many.
On Wednesday February 22, 2023, God in his infinite wisdom decided that she had fought the good fight, she had kept the faith, she had finished her course and she slipped from this life to eternal rest. She will always be remembered as an amazing mother, grandmother, and wonderful friend with a kind soul and loving heart; she will be greatly missed.
Aline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Manuel; daughters, Alice “Aya” Palmer and Virginia “Putt” Manuel; granddaughter, La’Bianca “Qui” Manuel; and grandsons, Julian Brisco, Ta-Nie Kees, Chosen Smith, Donnell Jackson, and Randall Jackson.
She is survived by her loving children, Henry Manuel, Jr. (Brenda), Linda “Anniegal” Sturgis, Gloria Jackson, Rickey Manuel (Carla), and Janice “Penny” Manuel; sisters, Sarah Bailey, Elsie Thomas, Mildred Brickhouse , Florence Kinder, and Mary Custis; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 6 great, great-grandchildren; special friends, Helen, Cat, Poochie, Purnell Turner, Sr., and Larry Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
