Obituary for Auletha Darlene Jones
On January 29, 2021, Auletha Darlene Bell Jones received her crown as she gained eternal life. Auletha was born August 11, 1953, to the late Hessie Fletcher, Jr. and Moveta Justice. She was later reared by the late Louise Laws.
At a young age, Auletha accepted Christ and joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Bloxom, Virginia. There she worked tirelessly in various capacities, including the Fleta Burton Chorus, Senior Choir, Praise Singers, Pastor’s Aide, Culinary Committee, Trustee ,and the infamous Golden Spices. Auletha loved her Lord. She was grounded in the Word, lived the Word, and when given the opportunity could speak the Word. She was faithful to her church, and her pastor. May the work she did, speak for her.
Auletha was educated in the Accomack County Public School System. She was a graduate of Parksley High School. She later attended Eastern Shore Community College in Melfa, Virginia, taking business classes as well as nursing, where she ultimately graduated from the Certified Nursing Assistant program. During this time, she also self-taught herself Spanish and was able to speak it fluently. With a thirst for knowledge and always wanting to better herself, after putting her three daughters through college, she eventually returned to school herself. In May 2014, she achieved her lifelong goal and received her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University. She then began to work on her Master’s in Theology from Liberty University. She continued her studies until her health began to fail.
Auletha worked in various fields throughout her lifetime. She was employed at Holly Farms,now Tyson Foods, Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital, as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and lastly, she was a Human Resources Clerk for over twenty years at Perdue Farms in Accomac, Virginia, until she retired.
On October 28, 2000, Auletha found love again and was joined in holy matrimony to Orlander Jones, Sr. She and “Ollie,” as she affectionately called him, shared over twenty years together and welcomed a large blended family.
Auletha was a woman of poise and grace. She commanded a room when she entered because she was always dressed to impress. Whether it was on her job, where she was considered by most, as the best dressed woman in Perdue, at church, where you knew she was going to come through with the baddest hat that no one could wear quite like her, or to the cookout, where everyone else had on sneakers, it was going to be heels for her. She was a true “fashionista.” Auletha had a smile that could light up any room and her laugh was so infectious. She had such a jovial spirit and always had a kind word for anyone she encountered. This drew a lot of people to her and she was respected by many because of it.
Auletha enjoyed shopping, reading, looking at westerns, and vacationing with Ollie. Their annual cruise was a must, which they did for twenty years. She also enjoyed community events, such as the annual blood drives and she never missed a Martin Luther King , Jr. March. But most of, all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. The sun rose and set around them. She tried to instill in them life lessons that would help them succeed in life and to show them there was nothing they could not accomplish. Her love and dedication to her family will truly be missed.
In addition to her parents and adopted mother, she was preceded in death by, sister, Faye Bell; niece, Shameka Bell; brothers-in- law, Freddie Jones, Jezriel Jones, and Larry Jones; and sister-in-law, Shirley Jones.
She leaves her love and precious memories to her husband, Orlander Jones, Sr.; daughters, Saadia Davis (John), Natasha Davis, and Marva Davis (Anthony); grandchildren, Nazir Turner, Ahmaz Turner, and Jada Harris; stepchildren, Olansca Baines (Brittney), Shantell Baines, Orlander Jones, Jr. (Carmen), Omarius Jones (Justina), and Okhayla Holloway; step-grandchildren, Olansca Baines, Ollaya Baines, Jamier Jones, Bronchea Jones, Camari Jones, and Orlander Jones, III; brothers, Dinne Bell, Kerry Bell, Varry Bell, Lurell (Pearline) Justice, Maurice (Sandra) Fletcher, and Marvin Clayton; sisters, Connie Marshall, Avon (Tommy) Mason, Edwina (Charles) Johnson, Una (Edward) Tucker, Diane (Eugene) Kellam, Marian (William) Hall, and Elaine Satchell; step-mother, Levolia Fletcher; brothers-in-law, John (Betty) Jones, Bobby (Barbara) Jones, Martin Jones, and Philander Jones; sisters-in-law, Emily Suggs, Bevely McBryde, Pat Boykins, and Gail Jones; goddaughter, Stephanie (Darrell) Fosque; niece and caregiver, Thelma Suggs-Bull; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
