On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, a strong woman left her loved ones. Barbara Jean Williams was born on October 16, 1954 in Treherneville, Virginia to the late William and Dorothy Mae Thomas.
Barbara Jean received her education in the public schools of Northampton County. She entered the workforce at an early age to provide for her family. Over the years, she was employed at Holly Farms, Kane Miller, and in the farming industry.
On February 27, 1989, Barbara met her husband, Gerald Williams. They were blessed with twenty-eight years before his passing in 2017.
Barbara Jean loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with them, eating and shopping, which she loved to do.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lola Kellam; sisters, Odessa Borden, Mary Weeks, Betty Rowley, and Alberta Johnson; brothers, Arthur Thomas, Walter Thomas, and Troy Rowley; granddaughter, Courtaja Duncan; great-grandson, Kingston White; brother-in-law, Nelson Perkins; nieces, Felicia Stith and Crystal Perkins; nephews, Conrad Moore, Allen Johnson, Howard Thomas, Jr., and Thomas Johnson; and great-nephew, Michael Black.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Vanessa (Orlando) Rowley, Lavonda (Arthur) Booze, and Patricia Duncan; two adopted children who were like her own, George (Shamon) Collins and Germaine (John) Comer; thirteen grandchildren, Shaquyna, Sharmiece, Shatoria, Kwane, Shakeia (Keyon), Kevin, Kayoyne, Kamron, Colby, Ja’Quan, Kaileb, Eligah, and Jordan; nine great-grandchildren, Jaleel, Kyasia, Jymir, SaNya, Kendrell, Jr., Jyasia, Kamari, Zaniyah, and Tristian; four brothers, William (Fannie) Giddens, Samuel (Diane) Thomas, Robert Thomas, and Howard Thomas; five sisters, Alice Giddens, Gladys Perkins, Lola (Larry) Harmon, Geraldine Tankard, and Vera Perry; mother-in-law, Ellen Williams; four sisters-in-law, Joan, Jane, Philisia, and Annette; four brothers-in-law, Roscoe (Sedonia), Larry (Betty), Ronald, and Delando (Etta); special friends, Mona Turner, the Kates family, Cora Kellam, and Stella Moses; close cousin, Mae Graves; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
