Obituary for Bertha Ann "Bert" Crosby

Bertha fought a good fight, she has finished her course, and she kept the faith!

On August 7, 2022, Bertha Ann Crosby answered the voice of our Lord and Savior to climb the stairway to heaven. "Bert" as she was affectionately known entered this world on January 30, 1956. She was the daughter of the late Frank Crosby, Jr. and Flossie Crosby.

During her adolescent years, Bert accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She received her early education in the Accomack County Public School system.

Bert kept you rolling in laughter and she was loved by her family. She never met a stranger and won people over with a warm spirit and by making them feel at ease with her open heart.

Bertha worked at Tyson Food until she had to retire due to health concerns. She became a homemaker and she loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family, especially her popular turnip greens. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing her scratch offs and bingo tickets, doing crossword puzzles, watching her favorite television shows, and playing cards with family. Some days she would sit out at Food Lion watching traffic drinking her Coca Cola. Our family events were magical, filled with good food and lots of love, and laughter.
In addition to her parents, Bert was predeceased by her sisters, Thelma Brown, Lola Dorsey, Emma Stevenson, Geraldine Crosby, Elizabeth Crosby, and Joanne Crosby; brothers, Willie Downing, William James Crosby, Donald Crosby, James Crosby, Lewis Crosby, and Woodrow Crosby; and longtime friends, Joann Johnson and Linda Holden.

Bertha leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Prestine Crosby; sons, Ralph (Rebecca) Crosby and Regis (Ashley) Crosby; grandchildren, Ticara, Ralph, Rakhia, and Regan; great-grandchildren, Cadence and Chance; sister, Dorothy (Joseph) Rice; brothers, Robert (Ernestine) Crosby and Dorsey Crosby; brother-in-law, Johnny Dorsey; bonus brother, Elwood (Janice) DeShields; fiancé, William Corbin; bonus daughters, Sherry Lawal, Queenie Rice, and Maxine Stafford; special friend, Sharon Holden; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gone but never forgotten, you will be missed by all but forever in our hearts.

Lovingly submitted,
The Family
