Bertha Lee Giddens, beloved daughter of the late Isaac Drummond and Mary Drummond, was born on October 26, 1932 in Accomac, Virginia. She was the devoted wife of James E. Giddens. Bertha made her transition from a life of labor to gain her sweet reward on Saturday, March 20, 2021.

Bertha, affectionately known as “Tancy,” was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. She was employed at Van Kesteran Farms for many years. She would often transport family and friends to and from work, doctor’s appointments, and the grocery store.

Tancy loved cooking and family get togethers. She enjoyed shopping, and could shop all day. She loved jewelry and dressing up.

Tancy was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Giddens; two brothers, Preston Drummond and Leroy Drummond; and four sisters, Helen Drummond, Margie Brown, Dorothy Washington, and Peggy Bell.

She leaves to cherish great memories and to celebrate her life: two children, James Giddens of Greenbush, VA and Mary (Bruno) Dennis of Hubert, NC; grandchildren, Lakeisha Dennis of Clayton, NC, Brandon Giddens, Khadija Giddens, both of Newport News, VA, and Latoya Dennis of Jacksonville, NC; one great-grandson, Tristan Dennis of Clayton, NC; three sisters, Oneida Strong, Hortense (Herbert) Smith, both of NJ, and Nellie Drummond of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

To the Giddens family,
Miss Bertha was wonderful lady. Enjoyed her and James at our Parks & Rec. softball games at the Saw Mill Park. So sorry for your loss, but happy for Heaven's gain of another jewel in GOD'S Crown.
Hold on to GOD'S Unchanging Hand, because earth has no sorrow, Heaven cannot heal!
Take care. Wayne Burton
