Obituary for Diane Charlotte Bragg

Diane Charlotte Bragg, departed life Wednesday, March 31, 2021. She was born to the late Marcus “Billy” Bragg and Emma Ann Bailey in Patterson New Jersey on April 17, 1943.

In her youth, her family moved from New Jersey to Virginia. As a teenager, she moved to New York to care for family members, Maria and Rusty, who ended up becoming like sisters to her. Although she loved being close to family, Diane was not the one to stay stagnant. A few years later, she moved to Virginia and attended Mary N. Smith High School. There she enjoyed going to games and hanging out with her cousins/sisters, Mary “Sister,” Joanie, and best friends, Dolores, whom she met at the age of 3, Eva, and Pam. They would go on to be lifelong friends.

When Diane moved to Virginia, she gave birth to her oldest daughter, Denise, and her son, Kevin. In 1962, she married Henry Wilson. They moved to New York, adding her sons Ronnie, Henry “Butchy,” and Steven to the family. In 1975, Diane moved back to Virginia where she settled in. When they divorced, she took a spin at love again, giving birth to twins Princeton and Princess at the age of 40. She was blessed with 7 children, which were the most important gifts in life to her.

Diane’s strong, feisty nature never went unnoticed. She would always fight for what she believed in and for those she loved. Even when she “took over” in situations, her loved ones knew she had their best interest in mind.

Diane loved to have long talks on the phone, so when she called you, it was best for you to get comfortable and prepare for a lengthy call and a good laugh. She always looked forward to riding out with her daughter and best friend, Denise. Her favorite thing was getting together with family and friends for events and holidays, which always gave her joy. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She really looked forward to shopping, decorating, cooking, eating, playing games, and sitting with everyone opening gifts.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her sons, Kevin Wilson, Carey Wilson, Henry Wilson, Jr., and Princeton Bragg and grandson, Marques “Qua” Bragg.

Diane leaves to cherish her fond memories her brother, Donald Bragg (Jeanette); children, Denise Bragg, Ronnie Wilson (Sharon), Steven Wilson (Estella), and Princess (Julius); grandchildren, Terry Bragg (Dimitria), Angil Meade (Charles), Douglas Bragg, Ronsheena Burton (Rudy), Ronnie Wilson, Jr., Kevin Wilson, Steven Wilson, Jr. (Niesha), Ke’Shawn Coirin (Dery), Jakhi Bragg, Zamyia Bragg, Christian Douglas, Kelis Daggins, Jada Daggins, Jamari Boggs, and Princeton H. Bragg, Jr.; twenty-three great-grandchildren; sister, Carol DeGroat; goddaughter, Tonya Kellam; special friends, Delores, Eva, and Pam; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
