Obituary for Brian "Joe" Sutton

On December 20, 1971, Brian “Joe” Sutton, the second youngest of six children, was born to Freddie Sutton, Jr. and Janice Elizabeth Sutton, in Accomack County, Virginia. He was educated in the Accomack County Public School system and graduated in 1989 from Arcadia High School in Oak Hall, Virginia.

Although Brian worked many jobs, in January 2015, he was proud to start his career at the Department of the Army Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Director of Emergency Services as a Department of the Army Civilian Security Guard. He furthered his education at the Department of the Army Civilian Police Officer Academy, graduating in June 2016 and became a Civilian Police Officer. In August of 2019, he became a Public Safety Dispatcher, where he served until his death.

Brian never met a stranger or an enemy! He focused on creating a connection to anyone with whom he came in contact. He accepted Christ at an early age and loved God with his whole heart. He was a member of Grace Church in Dumfries, Virginia, under the pastorate of Bishop Derek Grier. Brian had a passion for people, service, and music, often playing around with the keyboard, clowning around with family and friends. He was the "LIFE" of every party!

On Thursday April 14, 2022, Brian peacefully made his transition to his heavenly home. Surely, the gates opened wide to receive him. He was just that type of guy.

Brian leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Freddie Sutton, Jr. and Janice Elizabeth Sutton; one daughter, Janiece Tyler; four brothers, Rodney Sutton, Marty Sutton, Keith Sutton, and Steven Norman; two sisters, Teresha Sutton and Valerie Sutton; three nephews, Bryant Townsend, Brandon Townsend, and Jaren Waters; three nieces, Brittany Sutton, Elesha Townsend, and Jane’a Lopez; special friend and nurse, Latoya; life-long friends and buddies, Katrina, Brenda, Kim, and Roy; his adopted brothers, sisters, and extended family from the Eastern Shore; and a host of cousins, great nieces, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Lovingly submitted,
The Family
