Obituary for Charles Linwood "Wolverine" Baines III

Charles Linwood Baines, III, a devout son, grandson, brother, uncle, and father, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at his home. He was born March 16, 1972 to Charles Edward Baines, Jr. and Gloria Lee Mosley.

Charles was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a graduate of Nandua High School in 1991. He was employed with the Accomack County Sherriff’s Department.

Charles accepted Christ early in life and in 2013 began attending New Life Christian Center in Salisbury, Maryland, under the leadership of Pastor Alice Knox. He enjoyed working out, karate, kickboxing, watching old karate movies, and traveling. Charles loved working with people and sharing his gifts and talents.

He was known by so many names, and he lived up to every name that he was affectionately called: “Little Charles,” “Charlie Boy,” “Wolverine,” “Mr. Kicks,” “The Karate Kid,” “Baines,” and “Eastern Shore Golden Boy.”

Charles began karate at the age of three under Elton Trower and then continued training under John Howard Parsons. He earned his third degree black belt during that time, and Norman Collins became his mentor. He was later introduced to kickboxing and was trained by Craig Smith to a 32 – 1 amateur kickboxing record, he was IKF kickboxing champion as well the WKAK/ KICK USA Champion. Charles was also the WKKO and the JLFS and IFA World Champion. He then became a pro kick boxer on the World Combat League with the Chuck Norris organization. Charles was on the Virginia State Playmakers Team and traveled, winning most of his competitions. He was a 2019 Bronze Medalist in World Champions in Bosnia and placed 5th in Italy in 2021.

If you were ever having a bad day, feeling down, or didn’t feel like being bothered, his smile and his attitude would light up the room and change your attitude. He would greet you and say, “I am blessed by the best.”

Charles favorite scriptures were, I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength, Philippians 4:13. He truly lived and operated with the strength of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God allow him to overcome COVID, return to work as a Deputy Sheriff, and place 5th in a competition in Bosnia. And we know that in all things that God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose, Romans 8:28. For as he thinks in his heart so is he, Proverbs 23:7.

Charles will be remembered for his love of people, his words of wisdom, and encouragement.
