Clarence Venza Townsend, beloved son of the late Mannon and Ella Tull Townsend, was born on August 27, 1944 in Horntown, Virginia. He departed this life on October 18, 2018 at his residence in Horntown, Virginia.
Clarence gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined Tabernacle Baptist Church. He met Annette Beckett and was joined in holy matrimony. From this union five children were born; two children predeceased him.
Clarence received his education in the public schools of Accomack County. He worked for Perdue Farms for over twenty years as a chicken catcher. He also worked for Edward Hollow & Son and Tom Clover Aqua Farms, until his health began to fail.
Clarence was a loving and kind person to everyone he came in contact with. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his two children, Starvel Townsend and Tyion Douglas; and seven siblings, John Townsend, Hattie Lewis, Walter Townsend, Pearl Pitts, Althea Fosque, James Townsend, and Oscar Townsend.
Clarence leaves to cherish precious memories: his wife, Annette Townsend of Morningside, MD; devoted friend, Florence Douglas of Horntown, VA; seven children, Micherly Townsend and Mike Townsend, both of Morningside, MD, Leroy (Shelby) Townsend of Ft. Washington, MD, Troy (Amy) Townsend of Waldorf, MD, Desiree (Norman) Snead of Snow Hill, MD, Shawn Christopher of Newark, DE, and Tyrone Douglas of Salisbury, MD; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lillie Davis and Hazel (Earl) Marshall, both of Horntown, VA, Roxie (Calvin) Morris of New Church, VA, and Annie Mae Jenkins of Greenwood, DE; two sisters-in-law, Helen Martin and Cathy Townsend, both of Parksley, VA; special friends, Tim Shipley of Wattsville, VA and Clarence Payton of Horntown, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
