Obituary for Claudine Maxine Smith

Claudine Maxine Smith was born February 24, 1963 to the late Clyde Davis and Lucy Mae Davis. Claudine, lovingly known to family and friends as “Maxine,” was called from labor to reward on March 12, 2021 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, Onancock, Virginia.

Maxine received her education in the Accomack County Public School system. She was a hard-worker, dedicating thirty-five years of service to Perdue Farms. Maxine was best known as the “Cake Lady,” and could often be found in the kitchen cooking and baking cakes. Her absence will leave a void no one can fill.

One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Maxine was a woman with a heart of gold, who would do almost anything for anyone if she could. She touched many lives both in her profession and as a pillar in her community.

Maxine was preceded in death by brothers, James Bunting and Ralph Lee Davis.

She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Bennie Smith; two children, Fabian Smith and Chantel Davis (Zorro); special daughter, Nakeeta Scarborough; four grandchildren, King, KyAire, Mai, and Zaria ; ten siblings, Larry Davis (Linda) of Millsboro, DE, Cynthia Purnell of Berlin, MD, Clyde Davis (Jackie) of Newport News, VA, Cindy Byrd ( Dennis) of Parksley, VA, Henry Davis ( Sirthea) of Melfa, VA, Tyrone Davis of Painter, VA, Dean Davis of Nelsonia, VA, Dannette Haggins of Fayetteville, NC, Louise Coston (Booker) of Belle Haven, VA, and Dorothy Prince of West Palm Beach, FL; special sister, Roberta Williams; two special friends, Charmaine Parker and Glenda Harmon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
