Obituary for Cornal Edwin Finney

On Monday June 13, 2022, Cornal Edwin Finney fell asleep in death in Norfolk, Virginia after a long illness. He was born January 9, 1963 in Mappsville, Virginia to Harvey “Ben” and Madeline Virginia Finney. Cornal was reared by his stepfather, the late Emanuel Fletcher, Sr. and was the youngest of five brothers.

Cornal received his education in the public schools of Accomack County. His occupation as a truck driver took him to many places across the country. He enjoyed talking to his fellow drivers as they covered hundreds of miles weekly. Cornal also enjoyed model cars and watching Matlock and Perry Mason. Perry Mason had a phrase that Cornal and his sister-in-law Olive often quoted, “I’ll do whatever is necessary.”

He will be lovingly missed by his dear mother, Madeline; daughter, Tiffany Marie; grandchildren, Devon and Nikyah; brothers, Harvey (Mary) and Glenn (Olive) his caregivers for the last three years; stepbrother, Emanuel; stepsister, Maxine; and a special friend, Calvin Custis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.

Cornal was preceded in death by his father Harvey “Ben”; stepfather, Emanuel, Sr.; two brothers, Norris and Benjamin; and grandparents.

Lovingly submitted,
The Family
