Delois Ann Ames Jacobs was born on November 11, 1947 to Rossie Lee Ames and Mary Susan Snead Ames in Pungoteague, Virginia. Many affectionately knew her as “Lois” and she was “Baby” to her husband. She departed this life on June 12, 2022 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her husband and loving family.
Delois began her education in the Accomack County Public Schools and was a graduate of Mary N. Smith High School. She held various jobs over the years, but enjoyed her time at AT&T, General Electric, and the Board of Education in New York.
Delois loved her family and always put them first. She gave birth to her only son, Ross Ezra Davis on December 17, 1977.
In 2000, Delois was joined in holy matrimony to Edward “Lucky” Jacobs at First Baptist Church in East Elmhurst, New York.
Upon her husband retiring from the Postal Service in 2006, they relocated to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. They enjoyed many years of country living, family fun, and traveling. She loved playing UNO, Scrabble, sporting events, food, and her grandbabies.
Delois joined Gospel Temple in 2007, under the guidance of Reverend Lewis Brim. She was a Deaconess and a member of the Kitchen Committee. In life, she never met a stranger. All who knew and loved her will miss her loving spirit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers Rossie, Leroy, John, Larry, and Warner Ames; twin sisters, Deanna Ames and Diana Ames Anderson; three brothers-in-law, Herbert “Redboy” Anderson, Stanley Davis, and David McClinton; two sisters-in-law, Gwen Ames and Zelma Wilson; five aunts, Annie Mae Snead, Alice Marie Hendrix, Eva Mae Ames, Dorothy Mae Snead, Alicia Snead, and Mildred Mills; uncles, Clinton Ames, Earl Ames, William Ames, Drummond Ames, Chancey Ames, and Warner Lee Ames; and two great-aunts, Maggie Clowney and Francis Sturgis.
