Obituary for Deloise Marie Downing
Deloise Marie Downing was born June 20, 1941 to the late Leonard Godwin and Ella Mae Downing. She departed this life on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Virginia, after a brief illness.
Deloise was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. At an early age, she joined Jerusalem Baptist Church. At the age of 25, she moved to New York City where she was a dispatcher for over 30 years. In September 2001, she returned to the Eastern Shore after the tragic event on September 11.
In her spare time, Deloise loved to play on her computer and complete crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed watching game shows and The Weather Channel.
In addition to her parents, Deloise was preceded in death by her stepfather, Levi Brown and two daughters, Audrey Brown and Lena Marie Brown.
Deloise leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Jacqueline (Paul) Brown of Withams, VA; nine grandchildren, Troy (Linda) Brown of Harrisburg, PA, Tony Brown of New Church, VA, Paul (Rochelle) Brown of Salisbury, MD, Contrell Brown of Withams, VA, Nicholas Brown of Harrisburg, PA, Alvinia (Tony) Weeks of Mappsville, VA, Jason Brown of Salisbury, MD, Amanda Brown of Wattsville, VA, and Rochelle Brown of Bloxom, VA; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; seven great, great-grandchildren, two whom were very close to her, Ashanti Weeks and Makayla Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
