Obituary for Derrick Williams

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
John 14:1-3

Derrick “Plook” Williams was born on March 1, 1968 to Deborah Savage and the late Harrison James Savage. Derrick was born in Accomack County, Virginia. He entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2023 at Waterside Health and Rehab in Norfolk, Virginia. Derrick spent most of his childhood life in Petersburg, Virginia at the Southside Virginia Training Center. In 2012, Derrick relocated to an adult group home.

Derrick was baptized into Christian faith on January 8, 2018 at Sentara Princess Ann Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was not able to attend church like you and I but there was not any doubt that he knew who God was. Mom and Aunt Nancy made sure he was well-rooted in the word whenever they would visit him.

Derrick was a loving and sweet-spirited person. He loved to be loved on whenever you would go to visit him. He enjoyed visits from his family especially Mom, Harrison, Jr., and Aunt Nancy. Derrick loved to be outdoors he also loved to listen to music. He would rock to the beat of any type of music. Derrick enjoyed listening to his mom and Aunt Nancy read the Bible to him. His favorite food was mashed potatoes. He would definitely let you know when they were good, because he would cross his legs and start humming. Derrick also loved some vanilla wafers.

Heaven has truly gained an angel. Derrick was truly loved and will be greatly missed by all especially his mother and Harrison, Jr. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Derrick is now resting with the angels.
