Obituary for Diane Virginia "Dot" Collins (Matthews)

Diane Virginia Collins, also known as Dot, was called home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2024. She was born to the late Edith Strand Matthews and Harry Matthews on July 14, 1955 in Onancock, Virginia.

Diane received her primary education in the Accomack County Public Schools. She graduated from Onancock High School in 1973. After graduation, she attended Norfolk State University for a short period of time. She was employed at Perdue Farms and later worked at G.F. Horne Assisted Living for many years.

In 1981, Diane met the love of her life, Renzie Collins, Jr., and married in 1982. From this union they had five children, Lakai, Renzie, Shawanda, Sharicka, and Rendell.

Diane was loved by many. She cared and loved her family and friends. Diane was supportive and was always willing to be a listening ear to others and to give advice when needed. She loved to watch her soap operas and loved to go shopping for her grandkids.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Christine Matthews and Patricia Legette; and brother, Harry Thomas Matthews.

Diane leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Renzie Collins, Jr.; children, Lakai Matthews, Shawanda (CJ) Broughton, Renzie Harmon, Sharicka Broughton, and Rendell Collins; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Jormais, Logan, Saniya, Zariah, Zadaya, Amira, and Rendell, Jr.; sister, Mary Ann Anderson; brother, Curtis (Deanna) Matthews; a special nephew, Dominique Anderson; a special niece, Chiquita Matthews; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lovingly and sorrowfully submitted,
The Family
