Obituary for Dorothy Louise Harmon

Dorothy Louise Harmon was born August 21, 1940, to the late Lorenzo and Daisy Downing. At the age of 81, she departed this life on December 11, 2021 at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey.

Born in Assawoman, Virginia, Dorothy was a current resident of Trenton, New Jersey for the past 60+ years. She attended Mary N. Smith High School and continued her education at Trenton State College. Dorothy was employed by the Trenton Board of Education as a Paraprofessional for 35 years before retiring in 1993.

Dorothy was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Temperanceville, Virginia. She was also a member of Justurhum Social Club.

Dorothy enjoyed playing basketball. She loved to cook, go to Atlantic City, and play cards.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, George E. Harmon, Jr.; a son, Willie Hill; two great grandchildren, Jasmere Patterson and Barry Hamilton III; and her siblings, Murial Hope, Bernard, Lorenzo, Albert, and Vivian Downing.

She leaves behind to forever cherish her memories: her children, Rayella Harmon, Donella Harmon (Anthony), Alvin Downing (Laurie), Loushawna Hill, Justin Hill, James Hill, April Miller, and Angie Wilkins; 25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her only sister left, Betty Downing; one sister-in-law, Odessa Downing; one uncle, Jimmy Marshall; a special cousin, Phyllis Tull; two nieces and nephews whom she raised, Tyshonda Downing, Rena Reynolds, Anthony Ray, and Richard Bethea; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
