Obituary for Emani Monique "E" Press

Emani Monique Press entered into eternal rest on June 29, 2022 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland. Affectionately known as “E”, a daughter, sister, aunt, grandchild, cousin, and loving friend was called to her heavenly home to receive her Crown of Glory. Emani was born on December 31, 2001 at Sentra Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia to Cynthia Giddens and Maurice Press.

At an early age, she was baptized at St. John United Methodist Church in Atlantic, Virginia under the leadership of Rev. Gary C. Miller. She loved ushering, singing on the choir, praise dancing, and volunteering in the community. When she became an adult, she rededicated her life back to Christ at Anointed Word COGIC in Melfa, Virginia, where her pastor was Superintendent Samuel Smith.

Emani enjoyed hanging with her family and friends, mentoring, and coaching her favorite sport, volleyball. She was an all-around athlete and also loved cheerleading, softball, and basketball. If you knew Emani, you knew that she always gave her best at whatever she did and always found a way to make you laugh. She knew how to turn some of the most challenging moments into lasting memories. Emani was a loving, faithful servant who never really met a stranger, as she was always willing to help whenever and wherever she was needed. Her unique personality left a great impact on everyone who crossed her path.

Emani graduated from Arcadia High School in 2020. Upon graduation, she pursued her dream career goal of one day becoming a nurse. She initially enrolled at Old Dominion University, but due to Covid remote instruction, she transferred to Fortis College. Prior to Emani’s sudden death, she was employed as a Unit Secretary on the Mother/Baby Unit at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury Maryland, where her light shone so brightly in such a short period of time.

Emani was preceded in death by her grandparents, Nelson Giddens, Sr., Thelma Press, and Randy Press; her uncles, Quint Giddens, Elroy Brown, and Tiffer Miller; and her cousins, Kevin Fiddemon and Adrienne Tucker.

She leaves to cherish to her many wonderful memories: her strong and loving mother, Cynthia Giddens; caring and loving father, Maurice Press; three sisters, Imani Press (her twin), Britley Warner, and Briana Press; three brothers, Brandon Press, Maurice Smith, and Ke’Mauri Dennis; three nieces; Maliyah Howell, Kailyn Harmon, and Pure Hardy; grandparents, Jeanette Giddens and Vernon (Regina) Custis; six aunts, Charleen Tucker, Shelia Giddens, Valarie (Lorenzo) Daggins, Aretha Press, Demetra (Jerrold) Custis, and Vanessa Marshall; ten uncles, Edward (Una) Tucker, Robert (Priscilla)Tucker, Kenneth Tucker, Nelson (Liz) Giddens, Marvin (Leslie) Giddens, Timothy (Stacy) Giddens, Adrian Custis, Alfred (Sarah) Marshall, Marcus Fletcher, and Cassius Nock; godparents, Harold (Laurine) White, Sr.; god siblings, Harold White, Jr. and Brittany White; the love of her life and her heart, Tiair Bibbins; best friend, Khalea Warner; two very special men, Jerry Justice and Principal Shaun O’Shea; special childhood friends, William Scarborough, Kentrel Bishop, Jakiera Wise, Breaina Rogers, Lethon Williams, and Jaden Hope; and a host of loving cousins, other relatives, and friends.
