Obituary for Eric Gerard "EZ" Ames Jr.
Eric Gerard Ames, Jr., son of Eric G. Ames, Sr. and Sonya D. Reid, was born on April 24, 1991 in Nassawadox, Virginia. He departed this life on November 28, 2021 in Greenbush, Virginia.
Eric, affectionately known as “EZ,” was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a graduate of Arcadia High School. He was currently employed at his family business, Waffles with a Twist in Texas.
In his spare time, EZ enjoyed playing basketball. He also loved to watch football, especially his team, the New York Giants.
Eric was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandmother, Ethel Byrd and his paternal grandfather, Willis Davis.
EZ leaves to cherish his loving memories: his mother, Sonya Reid; father, Eric Ames, Sr.; daughter, Emani Ames; son, Jakhylan Blakely; sisters, Erica Ames and Heather Ayres; brothers, Terrence (Yolanda) Reid, Jordan Ames, and Hakeem “TJ” Johnson, who was also his best friend; nephews, Emari Downing, Terrence Reid, Jr., Jayceon Reid, Kareem Rashidi, and Muhammad Rashidi; nieces, Kadence Reid and Olivia Downing; aunts, Farrah Nicholes, Stantoria (Terry) Ayres, Karen (Charles) Gunter, and Vanessa (Gregory) Wise; uncles, Thomas (LaKeyia) Reid, Roger Savage, Roderick Savage, Darry Ames, Sr., Manthony (Karen) Ames, Thomas Holden, Warner Byrd, Jr., and Ethan Byrd; maternal grandmother, Rose (Roger) Savage; maternal grandfather, Warner (Keeva) Byrd; paternal grandmother, Sandra “Sweetie Pie” Davis; special friend, Jamar “J Dunk” Duncan; and a host of cousins and friends.
