Obituary for Eugene Columbus "Jack" Taylor

Eugene Columbus Taylor, beloved son of Esther Taylor and the late Eugene Davis, was born on November 14, 1949 in Bayside, Virginia. He departed this life on December 1, 2021 at his residence in Bayside, Virginia.

“Jack,” as he was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a graduate of Mary N. Smith High School. He later attended the Eastern Shore Community College, where he received a certificate in mechanics. In later years, Jack relocated to New York, where he worked for IBM Corporation in Poughkeepsie, New York until his retirement.

Jack had a love for motorcycles and cars. His collection of model cars was his prized possession.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Davis and daughter, Kiana Sprately.

Jack is survived by his children, Andra Taylor, Sharrisse Taylor Fisher, Eugene Taylor, Minyelle Spratley Wharton, and Rykesh Spratley; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, whom he adored; mother, Esther Taylor; siblings, Barbara Ann Moody, Arlette Davis, Elvis Drummond, Duval Davis, James Drummond, Perry Finney, and Bobby Finney; best friend, Vernon Gunter, Sr.; life-long friend, Alfred Needam; longtime companion, Connie Lekatsas; first cousins, Marion Summerville, Sheila Summerville, Carolyn Pettit, Pauline Cutler, Eugene Summerville, and Wade Summerville; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
