Obituary for Evangela Denise "Moody" Handy Lewis (Fletcher)

Evangela Denise Fletcher Handy Lewis, beloved daughter of Warren and Gloria Fletcher, Sr., was born on January 8, 1968 in Lewes, Delaware. She departed this life on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at her residence in Portsmouth, Virginia.

“Moody,” as we knew her, received her education in Accomack County Public Schools and was a graduate of Arcadia High School. While in school, she had a passion for playing sports, especially softball, basketball, and track. After graduation, she played softball with the Rejects. Moody was also a member of the Platinum Knights MC, where she was known as “Star.”

In later years, Moody moved to Portsmouth, Virginia and enrolled in Central College, where she earned a certificate in Medical Assistant/Billing and Coding. She was a manager for a medical office in Portsmouth before her passing.

Moody was preceded in death by her father, Warren Fletcher, Sr.; son, Reginald Handy, Jr.; sister, Wanda Fletcher; and grandson, Rakai Handy.

Moody leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Gloria Fletcher of Accomac, VA; daughter Renasha Handy of Newport News, VA; son, Jamar Davis of Portsmouth, VA; sister, Phyllis Smith (Javan) of Fruitland, MD; brother, Warren Fletcher, Jr. (Sheila) of Accomac, VA; three aunts, Georgianna Sturgis, Farris Mae Strand, both of Accomac, VA, and Rev. Grace Nelson (Tommy) of Capital Heights, MD; ten grandchildren, ReNya Mills, Jahkeece Handy, Reonni Handy, Jasai Davis, Dahlia Davis, S’Amayiah James, Remya Lankford, Ronte Handy, Jeremiah Lyons, and Leshanik Spivey; three nephews, Ty Savage (Alexandra), Karon Harmon, and Daron Harmon; seven nieces, LaQuana Nock, Tierra Nock, Brittney Savage, Sommer Smith, Taikeya Embry (Charles), Ciarra Fletcher, and Roshelle Butler (Bruce); two special brothers, Keith Harmon and Terron Trader; two special friends/BFF, Latisha Byrd and CeCe Abbott; two goddaughters, Ciara Abbott and C’Asia Abbott; special sister, Mary Duffy; two special daughters, Shanta Edwards and ZelMaya Kelley; two sisters-in-law, Evette Handy and Marcella Drummond (Abe); brother-in-law, George Handy (Michelle); first husband, Reginald Handy, Sr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
