Obituary for Fannie Virginia Williams (Johnson)

Fannie Virginia Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great, great-grandmother, and aunt, was called to her heavenly home on April 9, 2022 at her residence in Melfa, Virginia. She was born on September 2, 1934 to the late Edward A. Johnson, Jr. and Gladys N. Barksley Johnson.

Fannie was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. In later years, she earned her certificate in nursing and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Fannie worked for the Hermitage in Onancock, Virginia for twenty-three years before her retirement.

At an early age, Fannie gave her life to Christ at the Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Pungoteague, Virginia. She was a member of the Ushers ministry. In later years, she joined the Miracle Temple of Faith in Mappsville, Virginia. She continued to serve on the Usher Board at Miracle Temple. Fannie loved to worship, sing, shout, and do the holy dance. She had a strong relationship with the Lord and always said “Jesus knows.”

In her leisure, Fannie enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking. Every dish she prepared was delicious. Those delectable dishes and her loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Williams; daughter, Thomasina Ames; and sisters, Annie Helen Stevens and Edna Pitts.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories her son, Vernon Custis (Regina) of Atlantic, VA, Dr. Regina Williams-Rehkamp (Charles) of Smithfield, NC, and Nicole Williams of Keller, VA; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Lovingly and sorrowfully submitted,
