Fernanzer Ames, Jr. was born on July 16, 1956 in Savageville, Virginia to the late Fernanzer Ames and Catherine Ames. He departed this life on May 2, 2023 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, with his wife, Linda by his side.
Fernanzer was known to all as “June Boy.” He received his education in the public schools of Accomack County. June Boy entered the workforce at Kluis Nursery and dedicated thirty years of service. Later in life, he felt a need for a change, so he gained employment at Meyer’s & Tabakin’s Furniture Store as a head delivery driver. He worked there for five years. At this time, he joined the team at Bunting Farms and became Palmer’s “right hand man,” until his health began to fail. During his illness, his oldest son, Fernanzer, led him to salvation.
In his spare time, June Boy enjoyed watching Chicago Fire and CSI Miami. He also loved to talk smack about his favorite football team, The Colts, whenever they won.
June Boy was always willing to help anyone in need. All they had to do was ride around the corner or ride out to Melfa, he was always there. He loved to spend time with his family and to cook his famous fried chicken or fried fish. June Boy had his own special name for everybody because he couldn’t pronounce his or her real name.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Malissa Ames; aunt, Doretha Harmon; two sisters-in-law, Verline Heath and Sandra Ames; and brother-in-law, Wayne Heath, Sr.
June Boy leaves to cherish his memories forever: his loving wife of thirty-six years, Linda Ames of Savageville, VA; children, Fernanzer (Felicia) Moore of Parksley, VA, Darrin Moore of Painter, VA, Lavar Heath of Savageville, VA, raised as his own, Demonta (Tyneque) Heath of Gargatha, VA, Tomeca Moore of Accomac, VA, and Shydia Heath of Savageville, VA; grandchildren, Keshawnta Reid, Kevontay Moore, both of Accomac, VA, Dkaylen Heath of Gargatha, VA, Alesha Moore of Parksley, VA, Tymeca Moore of Accomac, VA, La’Shiya Heath of Savageville, VA, Kyleigh Heath of Gargatha, VA, and Kamyrn Canizales of Painter, VA; great-grandchildren, Saraiyah Moore and Symir Moore, both of Accomac, VA; sisters, Barbara Dickerson of Nelsonia, VA and Catherine Bailey of Accomac, VA; brothers, Levon Ames of Modest Town, VA, Edward Ames of Painter, VA, and Sheffield Ames of Melfa, VA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Milton (Yvette) Heath of Snow Hill, MD, Debbie Taylor of Baltimore, MD, Delsie (Chester) Kulesa of PA, Olivia (George) Tankard of Painter, VA, Mary Heath, Margaret Reid, both of Painter, VA, and Brenda Heath of Gargatha, VA; special friend, Palmer Bunting; favorite niece, Tiffany Clayton; special niece, Shaquel Heath; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
