Obituary for Florence May Hall

Florence was born on in Accomack County, Virginia to the late Sarah Ellen and John Simpkins. On July 26, 2022, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, Florence transitioned this life to one with our Heavenly Father.

Florence was affectionately called “Flo” or Mother Hall. She was kind, selfless, strong, virtuous, and loving. Flo was raised in a Christian home along with 14 siblings. Flo always had love for her family and others. In 1965 Flo and her children (Stanley and Mildred) moved to New York City. Flo hit the pavement running, she became a prominent member of her community. Flo not only raised her own children but raised so many others as well. She was very well known for the motherly love she projected. She loved children and they truly loved her. If you knew Flo, you knew you were blessed to have the love, guidance, and knowledge that she shared with all. Tiffani, Tiara and Sean got a special dose of
that gift.

Flo was extremely active and very driven. She was consistently involved in multiple activities at once and concurrently. If you knew Flo, she was always cleaning. We often wondered where she got all this energy from. She was a force to be reckoned with.

Flo worked for New York City Parking Violations Bureau where she retired in 2001. She was also an active member of the Starrett City Spring Creek Lions Club, Inc. She became a Lion on June 1, 1993. Lion Flo has held the following titles:
President:
• 01-28-09 - 06-30-09
Club Membership Chairperson:
• 07/01/02 - 06/30/03
• 07/01/11 - 06/30/12
• 07/01/21 - 06/30/22
• 07/01?????
Service Chairperson:
• 07/30/19 - 06/30/20
• 07/01/20 - 06/30/21

Flo was also an active member of the Starrett City Tenants Association since 1985. Her love and passion for her community gave her the inspiration to do more and she became the Vice President of the Starrett City Tenant Association from June 2008 until her demise.

She was loved by many in the community and was always recognized as such. Her participation in community events showed us exactly how much she loved to be of service to others. She will truly be missed and will never be forgotten.
