George Elmer Elmandorf passed peacefully to spend eternity with God on December 5, 2022 at PruittHealth in Durham, North Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late John C. Elmandorf and Sarah Rider Elmandorf. George was born on March 1, 1929 in Franktown, Virginia.
George was educated in the public schools of Northampton County, Virginia. He was employed at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Delaware for several years until his retirement.
He was united in holy matrimony to Stella Wise Elmandorf, who preceded him in death in 2017.
George was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church in Melfa, Virginia before he relocated to Durham, North Carolina. While in Durham, he attended Victory at Calvary Covenant Ministries with his family.
In his leisure, George enjoyed gardening, fishing, and bird watching. He was very social able and loved talking smack.
In addition to his parents and his wife, George was preceded in death by siblings, John Elmandorf, Thomas Elmandorf, Freddie Elmandorf, William Elmandorf, Richard Elmandorf, and Emily Williams; his grandson, Ruben Covington; and son-in-law, William Covington.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Loretta Covington; son, Emanuel Davis; grandchildren, Alvin Tankard, Nicole Covington, and Tamara Covington; great-grandchildren, Marquis Covington, George (Yana) Covington, Trinity Covington, William Covington, and Elizabeth Covington; three great, great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Della Fisher, Lucinda Parker, Roy James, and Willie James; and a host of other relatives and friends.
