Obituary for George Robert "Cornbread" Nock Jr.

George Robert Nock, Jr., beloved son of the late George Nock, Sr. and Viola Bailey Nock, was born on May 12, 1948 in Accomack County, Virginia. He slipped into the arms of the Lord on May 28, 2023 at Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.

George was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. At an early age, he entered the workforce in the farming industry.

George was known by his family and friends as “Cornbread,” “Corny,” “Chicken,” and “Chicken George.” He would say that the ladies called him, “Sweet Corn.”

In his spare time, Cornbread enjoyed cleaning, cooking, watching westerns and soap operas, and transporting his family and friends. His great passion was dancing. He was known all over the shore for his moves on the dance floor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Nock and Otha Nock.

Cornbread leaves to cherish his memories: one son, George Harris of Daugherty, VA; one daughter, Monica (Barron) Rogers of Salisbury, MD; two stepdaughters, Chiquita Harris of Painter, VA and Chinita Harris of Pocomoke, MD; three grandchildren, Jordan (Paige) Harris of Fruitland, MD, Ziquan Harris of Exmore, VA, and Qualik Turner of Melfa, VA; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Harris, Jyren Harris, and Mariah Harris, all of Fruitland, MD; two brothers, Walter (Ethel) Nock of Fayetteville, NC and William Nock of Onley, VA; five sisters, Doris (Delmas) Crippen of Daugherty, VA, Olivia (Ernest) Fields of Exmore, VA, Cordelia Wilson of Pocomoke, MD, Darlene (Calvin) Wilson of Melfa, VA, and Viola (Alphonso) Logan of Greenbush, VA; one aunt, Mae Nock of Philadelphia, PA; brother-in-law, Woodrow Wilson of Pocomoke, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Lovingly and sorrowfully submitted,
The Family
