Obituary for Georgia Mae "Penny" Davis

Georgia Mae Davis, daughter of Helen Davis and the late James S. Davis, Sr., was born on February 23, 1967 in Mount Nebo, Virginia. She left her earthly home on November 26, 2020, in Norfolk, Virginia.

Georgia, affectionately known as “Penny,” received her education in the Accomack County Public School System. After high school, she attended Goldey Beacom College and Eastern Shore Community College. Her passion for caring for others led her to pursue a career in nursing. She became a Hospice Nurse and worked for several years until her health failed.

In Penny’s leisure, she loved to play bingo, read and going out to eat crab legs. Realizing she needed spiritual guidance, she joined Macedonia AME Church in Accomac, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her father, James S. Davis, Sr.

“Penny” leaves priceless memories in the hearts of those she leaves behind: two sons, Ryan (Aria) Strand of Virginia Beach, VA and Christopher Strand of Greenbush, VA; two grandchildren, Zyan and Zariah; her mother, Helen Davis of Greenbush, VA; two sisters, Sabrina Davis of Onancock, VA and Lashammia (Thomas) Kellam of Scott AFB, IL; one brother, James S. Davis, Jr. of Painter, VA; lifetime friend, Kurt Strand of Greenbush, VA; Otis Strand of Greenbush, VA, who was like a second mother; five aunts Delois (Eddie) Jacobs of Melfa, VA, Sharon McClinton of Newport News, VA, Laura Umphrey of Melfa, VA, Vera Ames of Newport News, VA, and Ella Ames of Goldsboro, NC; one uncle, George (Ollie) Ames of Hamilton, NC; two nephews, Eric, Jr., and Thomas, Jr.; one niece, Jakeria; her extended family, the Strands; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
