It is with great sadness that the family of Gweneth Somerset Fairhurst Smith announces her passing after a brave and valiant fight with cancer, on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at the age of 65. She was born on September 21, 1952, in Manhattan, New York, to the late Cyril and Gladys Fairhurst.

Gwen graduated from Onancock High School in 1970. She worked for many years as a teller for Farmers and Merchants Bank before switching careers and becoming a secretary for Waste Management, Beracah Homes, Fairdale Farms, and then finally settling down as an avid “eBayer.” Gwen dedicated her life to her family and friends and she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband, Brian, of 21 years, she is survived by her two daughters, Dana Adams and her husband Mike and Trina Harrison; her grandchildren, Zach and Jamie Adams; also her honorary daughter, Janelle Spangenberg; three brothers, Eric, Ronnie, and Devon; four sisters, Paget, Glynis, Leslye, and Dawn; and many loving nieces and nephews. Gwen will also be fondly remembered by Brian’s family.
