Obituary for Javonta Durell "Chip" Davis

Javonta Durell Davis, beloved son of Christopher Davis and Tonieko and Paul McCray, Jr., was born on December 8, 2000 in Nassawadox, Virginia. On May 2, 2021, God in infinite wisdom, called him home to eternal rest at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia.

“Chip,” as he was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Henrico County and was 2019 graduate of Glen Allen High School. Upon graduation, he pursued a career in the United States Air Force, but was unable to fulfill this duty due to his illness. When his health improved, he gained employment at Jiffy Lube in Midlothian, Virginia.

Chip was a loving and respectful young man, with a heart of gold. In his pastime, he enjoyed shopping and listening to music. Chip loved his family, and they loved equally. His presence will be truly missed, especially by his brothers, whom he shared an unbreakable bond with.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Willie Davis and Paul McCray, Sr.; great-grandparents, Garfield Byrd and Ethel Byrd; and great, great-grandparents, James Downing and Rachel Downing.

Chip leaves to cherish his loving memories: his parents, Tonieko McCray, Paul McCray, Jr., Christopher Davis, Sr., and Monique Hines; brothers, Christopher Davis, Jr. and Paul McCray, III; sisters, Caniya Davis, Nyasia Davis, and Cameshia Davis; grandparents, Pauline Crawley, Julia McCray, Mary Davis, and Fred Crawley; aunts, Shanieko Fisher, Valerie Townsend, Melissa Daniels, and Shenia Davis; uncles, Kendell Fisher and Marc “Uncle G” Daniels; girlfriend, Mahogany Ward; best friend, Malik Greene; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
