Jeffery Locklear, beloved son of the late Delton Locklear and Libby Brayboy Locklear, was born on September 7, 1960 in Lumberton, North Carolina at Southeastern General. He departed this life suddenly on March 15, 2023 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland.

“Juke,” as he was affectionately known, received his education in the Northampton County Public Schools and was a proud 1979 graduate of Northampton High School. During his time as a Yellow Jacket, he was known for his dominance and prowess on both the football and baseball fields. Achieving a multitude of awards and honors, such as being selected to the VHSL All Stars Team, All Regional and District teams. He was known to spearhead his teams by showing heart on each play and outing. Upon graduation, he attended Ferrum College, where he played guard for the 9-1 1979 Panthers football team. He later entered the workforce at Perdue Farms in Accomac. There he met his real love, Vanessa Anderson in 1983.

On April 20, 1985, the two were joined in holy matrimony and were blessed with two children.

Juke worked in several industries to provide for his family over the years. While working he continued to pursue his love for sports, which included dominating softball and flag football leagues, where he shared a love for competition with some of the best athletes to play on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. He was currently employed as a Maintenance Supervisor at Kelly Foods, Inc.

Juke was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Boston, Virginia, where he worshipped with his family.

In his leisure, Juke enjoyed watching his favorite collegiate and professional sports team. He also shared his love for football with many youth in the community while coaching for Parks and Recreation. Juke earned the title “Grill Master” from family and friends for his skills on the grill. He was known for his delectable seafood dishes. His days were spent on the water catching fish and then coming home to fry them up for everyone to enjoy. Spending time with his family and friends, dancing, laughing, and enjoying great food brought him so much joy.
