John H. Parker, affectionately known as, “Bill,” was born on May 13, 1943 to the proud parents of Leroy and Althea Parker in Keller, Virginia. He was the fourth of five sons born to this union. “Bill” departed this life on February 6, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George I. Parker and William T. Parker; grandparents, Major and Lucille Parker.
“Bill” spent many summers working beside his brothers at Roosevelt Raceway until he graduated from Mary N. Smith High School in Accomac, Virginia in 1962. He continued his career as a groomer and horse trainer until the track’s closure. “Bill’s” hands were never idle! He worked at General Instrument as a watershed technician and devoted thirty years of service to United Parcel Service. Sports were always a passion for “,”Bill whether he was a participant or an avid observer. If he was watching bowling on TV “Bill” would invite you to join him. One of the few pleasures he enjoyed in life was working on his property and enjoying the fruits of his labor.
“Bill” loved being involved with his grandchildren and family gatherings were a fond source of entertainment. His beautiful smile epitomized his heart. He was known for welcoming and sharing his home with others.
“Bill” leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Jean and their daughter Kirbe, as well as his children, Michelle, Tamara, John, Rodney, Kevin, Valdine, and Verena; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Major (Helen) of Westbury, NY and Freddie (Scarlett) Parker of Bronx, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
