Obituary for Levolia Savage Fletcher

Our beloved, Levolia Savage Fletcher, entered eternal rest peacefully at her home in Chesapeake, Virginia on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. She was born in Modest Town, Virginia on November 19, 1933, to the late Herbert and Sallie Savage. She was married to the late Hessie Fletcher, Jr.

Levolia graduated from Mary N. Smith High School in Accomac, Virginia. She attended Norfolk State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She worked as a teacher for Accomack County School System for many years and retired as a Migrant Education Coordinator for the state of Virginia after thirty years.

Levolia accepted Christ at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church in Bloxom, Virginia, where she was a lifelong member and faithful servant of the Lord. She served as the Church Clerk and was a member of the Senior Choir and Voice of Praise. She was also a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and was devoted to friends and family. Her affectionate smile, generous heart, and wonderful personality are among our most precious memories. Some of her favorite things to do were shopping, cooking, and spending time with family and friends, especially her great granddaughter, the true joy in her life, Raedyn Robertson.

Levolia was preceded in death by her husband, Hessie Fletcher, Jr.; son, Tyrone Conquest; and daughter, Brenda Conquest.

Levolia’s love and memories will linger in the hearts of her family forever. She is survived by her son, Maurice A. Fletcher, Sr. (Sandra); five grandchildren, Maurice A. Fletcher, Jr. (Rebecca), Cherice M. Fletcher, Bryant Planter (Chrissy), Orchell Brown (Rodney), and Shon Williams (Heather); seven great-grandchildren, Raedyn N. Robertson, Darrien Drummond, Darrico Planter, Brynae Planter, Markeria Palmer, Raya Planter, and Rajahn Williams; three great, great-grandchildren, Miliah Palmer, Brayce Thompson, and Bryla Thompson. She is also survived by her loving sister, Ilease Stokes; devoted cousin, Deloise Hargis; special nieces, Leslie Handy (Bobby) and Lisa Williams (Fred); brother-in-law, Milton Fletcher; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Lovingly submitted,
The Family
