Obituary for Margaret Vianna "Vie" Nedab
Margaret Vianna Nedab, affectionately known as “Vie,” transitioned from this life for her heavenly home on February 18, 2021.
Vie was born and raised in Accomack County, Virginia, the third eldest of eight children born to the late John Edward and Margaret Isabella Beach. After graduating from Mary N. Smith High School in 1950, Vie began working at the Exmore Shirt Company, where she remained for several years. In 1955, her courtship with Dorsey “Nick” Nedab, the love of her life, led to over fifty years of marriage until his demise in 2006. To this union, four boys were born. Early in the marriage, Nick and Vie decided to move their growing family from Melfa, Virginia to New York, where they resided for several years until they moved to Washington, D.C. While raising their four sons as a loving stay-at-home mom, Vie’s entrepreneurial spirit and her love for children led her to start a daycare business. This was indeed her calling and a true labor of love. Over the years, she watched many of the young people she provided care for become adults and upstanding citizens in the community, making a difference, as she had. They would often visit to thank her for the impact she had on their lives.
Nick and Vie remained in the Washington, D.C. area until his retirement in 1989, when they decided to return home to Melfa to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Vie loved spending time with family and friends, and returning to Melfa to be with her parents, Aunt Mable, siblings, and friends gave her the greatest joy. In reflecting back on her life, her siblings shared fond memories of Vie and remembered her as a loving, kind, caring, and Godly woman whom they will dearly miss. They described her as always showing concern about family members. She encouraged them to walk in God’s light to find warmth in His love.
When Nick and Vie resided in Washington, D.C., she was an active member of the Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church. Upon returning to Melfa, she joined Burton’s Independent Methodist Church. Vie loved her church family and she counted it all joy to serve on the Usher Board and with the Culinary Ministry. She also loved serving in the community. Her motto was, “If I can be of service to someone, then my life has not been in vain.”
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kendal Sophia.
Vie leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Alvin (Debbye), Dorsey (Carole), Douglas (Darlene), and Edward; grandchildren, Njeri, Alvin, Jr., Dana, Douglas, II, and Dorsey, Jr.; great-granddaughters, Anisa Nedab and Arya Davis; siblings, Gladys Davis, Clifford Beach, Rufus Beach, Molly Parker (Mitchell), Alice Alexander (Marvin), and Willard Beach (Patricia); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Vie will be sorely missed, but we know that the angels in heaven are waiting to greet her as the Lord proclaims - well done, my good and faithful servant, well done.
