Obituary for Marion Lee Downing

Marion Lee Downing, daughter of the late Vernon Downing, Sr. and Lena White Downing, was born on December 28, 1951 in Mappsville, Virginia. She departed this life on July 22, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones.

Marion received her education in the Accomack County Public Schools. She was employed at Perdue Farms in Accomac for twenty-five years until her retirement. She also worked in the cafeteria at Tyson Foods for a period of time.

At an early age, Marion accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at First Baptist Church in Mappsville, Virginia. She became a member and remained until her untimely passing.

Marion had a heart of gold. Whenever you were in need she was always willing to help. Marion loved to read her Bible, cook, and talk on the phone. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family, laughing, joking, dancing, and just having a good time.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her son, Kevin West; grandson, Logan Hinmon; three sisters, Frances Parker, Mildred Shrieves, and Catherine Justice; and two brothers, Harold Downing and Diree Justice, Sr.

Marion leaves to cherish her precious memories: her children, Anita Seidu, Demetrice (Kira) West, Elijah (Tekisha) West, and Ra’Nya Howard (Devan), whom she raised as her own; six grandchildren, Tania Savage, Yezmin Rogers, Shyheim West, Damian West, Jaeda West, and Jakira West; two great-grandchildren, Sy’Aire Savage and Sy’Nia Savage; her dog, Princess; two sisters, Pearlie Dickerson and Jacqueline (Baxter) Lilliston; two brothers, Vernon (Lincebell) Downing and Diree Justice; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lovingly submitted,
The Family
