Mary Ellen Conquest Allen, 80, entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2021 at her home in Onancock, Virginia with family by her side. She was born on August 27, 1940 to the late Leroy Savage, Susie Ethel Conquest, and Lee Conquest in Daugherty, Virginia. Mary was educated in the Accomack County Public Schools and received a Certificate as a Nursing Assistant from the Eastern Shore Community College.

At an early age, Mary Ellen accepted Christ and joined St. Luke A.M.E. Church in Daugherty, Virginia. She was on the Trustee Board, Willing Workers Ministry, Nurse’s Ministry, and Community Anointed Gospel Singers Choir.

Mary Ellen was employed by Gregg Harriet Shirt Factory, Parksley Shirt Factory, and The Hermitage. After retiring from The Hermitage, Mary Ellen cared for her mother until she earned her wings to heaven.

Mary Ellen, affectionately called “Momma,” “Mom-Mom,” “Mom,” and “Mary,” was a kind lovable person and enjoyed taking care of others. She loved to dance and did not have a problem leaving “Pop-Pop” as a spectator on the sidelines. She was always happy, energetic, and kept a big smile on her face.

In her younger years, she was an awesome second baseman for the Jetsons softball team. Mary Ellen enjoyed meeting people and engaging in conversation. She always had a kind word to say to anyone she met. Her warm personality left a lasting impression on her family and those who knew her. For years she traveled with her husband and children abroad including places like: the Bahamas, Hawaii, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.

Mary Ellen loved listening to music, aerobics, and sewing. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren but was a fierce competitor when it came to bowling on the Nintendo Wii. She retired as the Wii Bowling Champion.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon L. and Spencer “Bud.”

Mary Ellen leaves to cherish her memories: her beloved husband of sixty-five years, William Lee Allen, Sr.; four children, William, Jr., Robert, Sr., Michael, and Jennifer; two daughters-in-law, Kim and Louise; one son-in-law, JC; thirteen grandchildren, Reginald ”Kip”, Robert, Jr. “Ches,” Brittney, Deonte, Jenna, Jestin, Skylar, Tykera, Yasmine, Christopher, Jamison, Grayson, and Yalanda; seven great-grandchildren, Asher, Makiyah, Kyreik, Anyah, Aaron, Amber, and Matthew; one brother, James; three sisters-in-law, Margaret, Jacqueline, and Joyce; a dedicated cousin/caregiver, Vanessa; granddogs, Nurse Roxie, Ritz-Carlton, and Bella; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
