Obituary for Mary Ann Clayton (Corbin)

Mary Ann Corbin Clayton, beloved daughter of the late William Corbin, Sr. and Hortense Newby Corbin, was born on November 20, 1957 in Mappsville, Virginia. She departed this life on December 31, 2021 at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Mary received her education in the public schools of Accomack County. She took great pride in providing a loving and caring home. She was married to Preston Clayton and she was the mother of four sons.

At an early, Mary was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church. In later years, she worshipped at First Baptist Church with her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and watching TV.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her two sons, Cyrus Clayton and Clarence Clayton; sister, Sally Parker; and brother, Clarence Corbin.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Preston Clayton; two sons, Mario Clayton and Preston Clayton; three grandchildren; eleven siblings, Cornelius (Sarah) Corbin, Rennie (Clarence) Graham, Shirley Washington, William Corbin, Jr., Thomas Corbin, Frances (Tyrone) Johnson, Joyce (Allen) Arehart, Mae Corbin, Marie Corbin, Robert (Cresandre) Corbin, and Hattie (John) Morris; special friends, Mary Pinkard, Annie Mae Fisher, and Elizabeth Webb; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
