Michael Joseph Slattery was born on June 8, 1959 in Washington, DC to the late John Slattery and Mary O’Donnell. He departed this life at his residence in New Church, Virginia on November 21, 2018.

Mike, as he was affectionately known, was a 1977 graduate of Parkdale High School. After graduation, he furthered his education at the University of Maryland. Mike was employed at Tyson Foods for eleven years until his health began to fail.

On May 23, 1996, Mike and Lula Godwin were united in marriage in Worcester County, Maryland. He enjoyed the simple things in life. You could always find him watching his favorite shows which included: Jeopardy and Riffleman. He also loved to watch football and the Green Bay Packers were his favorite team!

Mike leaves to mourn: his wife, Lula Godwin of New Church, VA; one stepson, Laron (Tongela) Godwin of Jacksonville, FL; one stepdaughter, Marika Godwin of Newport News, VA; eight step-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Patricia) Slattery of Bowie, MD and Daniel Slattery of Columbia, MD; four brothers-in-law, Carl (Mary) Godwin of Romulus, NY, Roy Godwin of Snow Hill, MD, Ira Godwin of Horntown, VA, and Archie Godwin of Gwam; mother-in-law, Venera Godwin of Romulus, NY; two close friends, Myron “Duck” Harris and Mark Antoun; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
