Obituary for Michael Anthony "Buddy/Skidrow" Taylor

Michael Anthony Taylor, beloved son of the late Willie Armstrong and Willie Marie Taylor, was born on November 11, 1958 in Salisbury, Maryland. On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, he transitioned from Earth to glory at his residence in New Church, Virginia, after a brief battle with cancer.

Michael, affectionately known as “Buddy” or “Skidrow” to family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. He was a hard worker and truly enjoyed his profession in the trucking industry. Skidrow dedicated over forty-five years to trucking. He often would say, “I’m a truck driver, not a steering wheel holder.”

Buddy was a family-oriented man. He loved gathering with his family, especially at the family reunions. He took great pleasure in preparing the food for these events and considered himself a “grill master.” Besides trucking and family gatherings, his greatest joy came from being a grandfather to his many grandchildren. He loved them all, but Abbie Ann held a special place in his heart.

Buddy fought a valiant fight against cancer and his final days requested to return home to spend his final moments with his family. He was afforded that opportunity and slipped into eternal sleep at his home with his soulmate, Joyce Bibbins, at his side.

In addition to his parents, Skidrow was preceded in death by his sisters, Nanny Schoolfield, Sadie Fisher, Virginia Tull, and Mildred Chisum; and brothers, Grover Taylor, Curtis Taylor, Theodore Lewis, and Leroy Taylor.

Buddy leaves to cherish his fond memories: his devoted caregiver and soulmate, Joyce Bibbins; daughter, Renata Price; son, Michael Johnson; children that he raised as his own, Tinya Bibbins, Terence Bibbins, Michael Price, Zemora Taylor, and Keva Handy; sisters, Lela Taylor, Ethel (Cornelius) Thornton, and Gloria Taylor; brothers, John Taylor, Sidney (Tammy) Taylor, and William Taylor; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
