Obituary for Milton Edward "Sonny" Bull

Milton Edward Bull, known to many as “Sonny,” was born on December 16, 1931 in Wardtown, Virginia to the late Annie Bull Kellam and Henry Bull. He departed this life on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, Virginia.

Milton was married to the late Verneta “Jean” Bull. To this union six children were born, Doris, Shirley, Anthony, Emma Jeanette, James, and Kevin.

He was educated in the Northampton County Public Schools. Once he was eligible, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served from 1952 to 1954. After completing his military obligation, he returned back home and began to work for a contractor named William C Fray. Years later, he worked for Retallack and Springs Underground Utilities, which was in the same job field.

Milton began hauling metal, due to being laid off every winter, in order to make ends meet. As result, this led him to start his own Salvage Business. He became known as the “junk man” on the Shore and the rest is history.

Milton accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. However, later on in his life he frequently visited the Church of Deliverance located in Seaford, Delaware, where the presiding pastor was the late Bishop Hilton Palmer-thus he rededicated his life. From that ministry, Milton branched out and visited numerous churches in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey preaching the word of God and bringing souls to Christ. Later on in life, he became a member and served faithfully at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Hacks Neck, Virginia.

Milton was predeceased by his wife, Verneta “Jean” Bull; a daughter, Emma Jeanette Bull; four brothers, Clyde, Harold, Hyslop, and James Bull; and one sister, Lillian Bull Bailey.

Milton leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Doris Branch of Chesapeake, VA, Shirley (Claude) Treherne of Accomac, VA, Mary Bell (James) of Dover, DE, Roxanne Sturgis of Dover, DE, Evelyn Johnson of Accomac, VA, and Keondra Bull of Accomac, VA; sons, Anthony (Thelma) Bull of Birdsnest, VA, James (Cynthia) Bull, Sr. of Accomac, VA, Kevin (April) Bull, Sr. of Woodbridge, VA, and Darelle Bull of Iowa, City, IA; one sister, Minister Mae Parker of Durham, NC; sixteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones, and friends.

Lovingly submitted,
The Bull Family
