Obituary for Milton Lee "Pops" Strand Sr.

Milton Lee Strand, was born to the late Reon Savage and Eula Strand Johnson on August 8, 1944. He was the husband of the late Shirley Ann Strand. Milton was called to rest with our heavenly father on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Shore Health and Rehab Center in Parksley, Virginia.

Milton was educated in the Accomack County Public School system. He worked for the late Robert Cobb (former Sheriff of Onancock) at his gas station as a mechanic in the early 1960s. He moved to Chester, Pennsylvania during the mid-1960s. There he continued to work as a mechanic until 2000, when his health prevented him from doing what he loved. Upon his retirement, Milton returned to the Eastern Shore to enjoy life with his family and friends.

Milton was a member of Bethel AME Church in Onancock, Virginia. He served on the Trustee Board for several years. In his leisure, Milton enjoyed watching sports on television and going to games of his favorite teams. He loved the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Milton was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Strand; mother, Eula S. Johnson; and father, Reon Savage.

Milton is survived by his children, Sheila Strand, Milton Strand, Jr., and Angela Mattis; grandchildren, Darrell Logan, Djuana Strand, and Ebony Chambers; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Florine Giddings, Barbara Joynes, both of Onancock, VA, and Pearl Smith of Paterson, NJ; three brothers, Clinton (Jeanette) Strand, Stanford Strand, both of Onancock, VA, and George (Linda) Strand of Columbia, MD; two uncles, Wendell West and Irvin West; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
