Obituary for Nancy Jean Finney (Harris)

Nancy Jean Harris-Finney, beloved daughter of the late Annie Conquest Harris and Hayward Harris, Sr., was born on October 23, 1947 in Melfa, Virginia. She departed this life on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Nancy was educated at T. C. Walker in Accomac, Virginia. She was employed at Perdue Farms in Accomac, Virginia for many years until she retired. In later years, she worked at Tyson Foods in Temperanceville, Virginia. In her spare time, she also enjoyed doing hair.

Nancy attended St. Paul AME Church in Pungoteague, Virginia, under the leadership of Rev. Stephanie Castro. She was beloved by her family and friends and was loved by everyone she encountered. Nancy would always approach you with the biggest smile on her face and you couldn’t help but smile back.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death her two sisters, Peggy Ann Harris and Joyce Mae Dennis; one brother, Wayne “Duke” Harris; and niece, Brenda Harris.

Nancy leaves to cherish her memories her beloved husband, Robert Finney; two daughters, Chequita Harris (Charlie Giddens) of Painter, VA and Chenita Harris of Pocomoke, MD; two sons, George Harris of Tasley, VA and Garry (Ruth) Harris of Keller, VA; three brothers, Hayward (Lola) Harris, Jr. of Pocomoke, MD, Vencel (Tangela) Harris of Keller, VA, and Randall Harris of Melfa, VA; twelve grandchildren, Kenneth Harris, Keshun (Shavionte) Harris, Maurice Harris, Aiyana Sample, Antonio Harris, Percy Smith, Aniylah Townsend, Ariel Harris, Terrell Harris, Tevin Harris, Jordan Harris, and Zah Harris; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joan (Thornton) Wilson; brother-in-law, Gregory Nock; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
