Obituary for Nevitt Merrill Cannon

Nevitt Cannon was born in Horntown, Virginia on February 9, 1933 to the late Annie Precious Cannon. He departed this life on Tuesday morning, December 29, 2020 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland.

Nevitt was educated in the public schools in Accomack County, Virginia. In the late 70s, he moved to Pocomoke, Maryland.

Nevitt was employed at Captain’s Cove in Greenbackville, Virginia for many years. He was also known in the community as a “lawn service man.” He owned a small landscaping business, that impacted the lives of many people in Virginia and Maryland, because of the excellent service Nevitt provided.

Nevitt was a kind and giving person to all who knew him. He always supported school and church fundraisers. He loved spending time with his family and friends and always reminisced about the “good old days.”

He leaves to cherish his memories: his cousins, Harvey “Wesley” (Florence) Cannon, June (Michael) Bond, Barbara Harvey, Alvin Cannon, Sr., and Clifton Cannon, who faithfully visited Nevitt every Sunday after church; and friends who will miss him.

God Saw
God saw the road was getting rough,
The hill was hard to climb;
He gently closed your eyes
And whispered, “Peace Be Thine.”
The weary hours, the days of pain,
The sleepless nights have passed;
Your ever worn-out frame
Has found sweet rest at last.
God Saw that you were tired
So He did what He knows best.
He came and stood beside you,
And whispered, “Come and rest.”

We know that Nevitt will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
