Obituary for Odessa Whitaker Savage

Odessa W. Savage, beloved daughter of the late Eagle Whitaker and Jimmie Lue Whitaker, was born on July 25, 1932 in Celquitt, Georgia. She departed this life on November 29, 2020 in Quincy, Florida.

Odessa was educated in the public schools in Georgia. Upon her graduation, she matriculated to Florida A & M University, where she received her Bachelor's degree. Odessa gained employment in the banking industry and worked for several years until her retirement. In her leisure, she enjoyed reading.

Odessa met and married the love of her life, Edward Savage and they shared many beautiful years before his demise.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother.

Odessa leaves to cherish fond memories: her nephew, Pastor Bernard (Velma) Savage of Newark, NJ; great-nieces, Saran Savage-Winters of Houston, TX and Zakia Savage of VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Another Leaf Has Fallen
Author Unknown

Another leaf has fallen another soul has gone.
But still we have God’s promises,
in every robin’s song.
For she is in His heaven,
and though He takes away,
He always leaves to mortals,
the bright sun’s kindly ray.
He leaves the fragrant blossoms,
and lovely forest, green.
And gives us new found comfort,
when we on Him will lean.
