Ovie Taylor Williams was born on July 18, 1937 in Assawoman, Virginia, to the late Commie Taylor and Everdena Wharton Taylor. She departed this life on May 15, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Ovie received her education in the public schools of Accomack County. In later years, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Cosmetology. She began her career as a beautician and dedicated over fifty years. Ovie was also a dedicated volunteer with the Oak Hall Ambulance & EMT services for thirty-eight years. She also drove the school bus and was a substitute teacher for Accomack County for over thirty years.
On December 7, 1957, Ovie married Arele “Toby” Williams; they shared sixty-five years of marriage. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Marshall.
Ovie was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Atlantic, Virginia. In earlier years, she sang on the choir.
In addition to her parents, Ovie was preceded in death by her grandson, Jacques Fauntleroy; brothers, Calvin Taylor, Randolph Taylor, Kerance Taylor, Elijah Taylor, Ross Taylor, and Commie Taylor; and sisters, Theola Smith and Lilllie Mae Coulbourne.
Left to cherish her loving memories are her husband of sixty-five years, Arele “Toby” Williams; daughter, Marshall Fauntleroy; grandson, Alton Donichele Conner; great-grandchildren, Jasmine Watson Kellam (Morris), Tamira Harris, Dorian Brown (Antonio), Ja’Nara Fauntleroy, Jahkai Matthews, and Christian Fauntleroy; sisters-in-law, Barbara Hudgins and Juanita Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
