Obituary for Patsy J. "P.J." Selby (Lewis)

Patsy J. Selby, the beloved daughter of the late Mack Harvey Lewis, Sr. and Verna Lee Lewis, was born on December 8, 1943 in Cameron, Texas. She departed this life at the Gardens at Warwick Forest in Newport News, Virginia on January 7, 2022.

Patsy was married to the late Hilbert C. Selby, Jr. and their union was blessed with two sons, Hilbert C. Selby, III and Marc F. Selby and one daughter, Sheryl Tate.

Patsy dedicated thirty years of service to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland. She was the unit coordinator for the hospital. In later years, Patsy opened the Hazelnut Café in Parksley, Virginia and served the community for over eight years. The Café was known for its delicious sandwiches.

Patsy was a member of the Church of Christ in Keller, Virginia. In her leisure, she enjoyed traveling, especially cruising. She cruised to St. Marteen, Jamaica, and the Bahamas on several occasions. Patsy had the pleasure of visiting her son when he was stationed in England on several occasions. Her greatest joy was attending the annual family reunion in Texas with all of her siblings and other family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Patsy was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Lewis and four sisters, Frances Kennard, Margaret Lewis, Arthur Mary Lewis, and Betty Cavil.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: two sons, Hilbert C. Selby, III and Marc F. Selby; stepdaughter, Sheryl Tate; four grandchildren, Ravee’ Selby, Hilbert C. Selby, IV, Alexis Selby, and Marc F. Selby, Jr.; one great-grandchild, Theodore Reed-Selby-Rose; three brothers, Mack Harvey Lewis, Jr., Steve Lewis, and Samuel Lewis; three sisters, Velma Moss, Vanessa Lewis, and Virginia Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Lovingly & sorrowfully submitted,
