Obituary for Paul Ellis Miller

Print
Paul Ellis Miller was born to the late Harry “Street” Miller and Linnie Northam on January 2, 1931. He was raised and educated in Accomack County, Virginia.

A Korean War veteran, he was very proud to have served his country and often talked about the people he met and befriended during his tour of duty.

He was married twice in his lifetime and both were very amazing women. In 1957 he married Norma Doretha Hinmon, this union was blessed with six children. In 1981 he married Edna Justis and became stepfather to her two children.

As a young man, he held several jobs to include: truck driver for P & L Poultry and maintenance man for RCA, General Electric, and Lockheed Martin. Lastly, he was an independent contractor; he painted, hung wallpaper, and was a handyman extraordinaire. No matter what it was he never failed to lend his expertise and knowledge. He even taught many of Shiloh’s young men how to tie a neck tie in a square knot. When asked how he could do so many things he would humbly say, “I don’t have much education, but God always shows me what to do.”

His love of family and friends, warm personality, easy-going demeanor, fatherly wisdom, and that smile, brought many people into his life. Not to mention the fact that he grew some of the best turnip greens, hayman, and sweet potatoes, which kept some of the same customers in his life for many years.

Paul will certainly be missed at family get-togethers playing dominoes, checkers, and bowling on the Wii, as well as at work and church. At church, he was known for his stylish attire and deep voice, as he sang on the choir. He was known by many names, “Dad,” “Daddy,” “Pop-pop,” “Too Tall Paul,” “Shah Miller,” “Pop,” “Mr. Paul,” “Unk,” and “Uncle.” No matter what he was known by, he was loved by many.

Cherishing his memory are: his children, Valerie Smith, Chico Drummond (Ricky), Eric Miller (Diania), Bobbie Graham (Michael), E. Michael Miller (Kathy), Arlington Miller (Amanda), Gloria Fedderman-Trader, and Eddie Taylor; stepson, Clinton Justis; brothers, Willam and Herman Miller; sister, Katherine Townsend; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Ellis Tull; brothers, Preston and Harry Lee; and sisters, Wyester and Alice.

“This we know…God’s promise, a life lived in Him never ends…”
