Ray Nathaniel Finney, beloved son of the late Henry and Swanee Finney, was born on April 3, 1933 in Onancock, Virginia. He departed this life on May 11, 2022 at his residence in Onancock, Virginia.
“Bunchie,” as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. He joined the workforce at an early age to help support his family. Bunchie became a carpenter and dedicated over fifty years to his craft.
At an early age, he attended Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with his family. Bunchie was married to the late Geneva E. Allen Finney; their union was blessed with two children.
In his leisure, Bunchie enjoyed watching Westerns and boxing. He also loved his blue Chevy truck, cruising up and down the Shore.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bunchie was preceded in death by his seventeen siblings, Emma, Odessa, Thurman, Alonzo, Alfonzo, Johnnie, Berneice, George, Lucille, Doretha, Sylvester, Sylvanus, Amos, Geneva, Virginia, Claude, and Gladys.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his sister, Dorothy Bagwell; children, Ray Finney, Jr. and Gennita Finney; grandchildren, Ryan, Aryione, Kelli, and Kaire; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Ny’loh, King, Khrown, Knight, Forevher, and Fhyar; special friend, Abigail Allen; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lovingly submitted,
The Family
